| “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Committee connects to Atithi Pratishthan for girl child promotion “ | |  Jammu, July 27 (Scoop News)-The State committee of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao pursuing countrywide campaign launched on initiative of PM Narinder Bhai Modi, discussed in depth the issue of promotion of girl child with ‘Atithi Pratishthan’ organisation at Jain Bazar Jammu. S. S. Bijral, retired IGP and convener of State Committee accompanied by Anju Dogra member and Bhanu Jasrotia undertook this self raisecd initiative in the premises of the institution.
’Aitthi Pratishthan’, a registered NGO is devoted to upbringing of forsaken and orphaned girls only. Formed in 1998, it embraced noble societal cause realising that girls victims of militancy posed a real challenge for reason of care plus security needed by them. It occupancy of 22 girls at present and majority of them are in senior school. While schooling is being taken care of free in Diwan Badri Nath Higher Secondary School Julaka Mohalla, their expenses on diet and other necessities are met from donations. It is not being funded by the government. Pankaja Didi, the Sanchalak informed that years ago they tried to raise their own finances to fund their day to day expenses by manufacturing jute bags to meet demand of Mata Vaishni Devi Shrine and invested little funds for purchase of required machinery. Then not being able to with stand the market competition they had to forgo that venture.
Local ladies have voluntarily taken up responsibility to extend help. Ms Mamta Singh wife of Professor Dr. Nirmal Singh ,the Dy. C. M., is the General Secretary of the organisation. The devotion and commitment of all there was found to be the hall mark of the institution. So much so some of the inmates after having attained marriageable age were got married by them.
The institution has flourished in a congested locality and face constraint of accommodation and floor area to let the inmates be involved in other activities essential for intellectual and physical development. It would be worthwhile if the very institution, the second only after one at Vaid Mandir Amphalla is shifted to an open place over small piece of govt. land and building constructed through donations. Pankaja Didi, the Sanchalak, was responsive to the suggestion. For its location in thick congested locality where roof top is most unsecure the Sanchalak wanted something to be done about it to render it safe for girls.
The Convener of the Committee S. S. Bijral assured them that while the security issue would be taken up on top priority, their other issues including call to the people to come forward to adopt girls for their proper healthy settlement in life, before the people in course of its Campaign of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
