| Army recalls sacrifices of its valiant soldiers with solemnity on 16th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Divas | | 
Udhampur, July 26, (Scoop News)-To honour and recall the sacrifices of our brave and valiant soldiers, the 16th Anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated at Udhampur, with due solemnity and dignity, a defence spokesman said on Sunday.
He said as part of the celebrations, the Kargil War Memorial at the Sharadhanjali Park was illuminated in the evening and all ranks and families of the Garrison paid their homage and expressed eternal gratitude towards the 'Saviours of the Nation', by lighting candles.
"The day is a special occasion for the Indian Army for being the anniversary of the rarest battle which was fought and won by any country in the most adverse and challenging conditions", the spokesman added.
He said observing Kargil Vijay Diwas was a humble tribute to the martyrs and an acknowledgement of their valour, sacrifice and fortitude
