BJP leaders unveiled statue of Dr Mookherjee

Jammu, July 06 (Scoop News)-On the occasion of 114th birth anniversary of Jana Sangh founder President Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, the state unit of BJP organized an impressive function at Trikuta Nagar, wherein statue of this great ideologue was unveiled by State President & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, National Secretary Farooq Khan, Former Union MoS Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee Trust Chairman & MLC Ashok Khajuria, State General Secretary Ashok Kaul, Cabinet Minister Chander Prakash Ganga, Gandhi Nagar MLA Kavinder Gupta, Jammu Distt. President Rajesh Gupta (MLA) and other senior leaders.
These leaders also garlanded the portraits of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee and Pt. Premnath Dogra.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, on this occasion, said that the people of the state got rid of permit system due to the sacrifice of Dr. Mookherjee. Numerous activists and martyrs also contributed in achieving this. He said that the dream of Dr. Mookherjee is still incomplete and each one of us has to work towards achieving the same. He expressed hope that the party activists will adopt the principles and ideology of great ideologues like Dr. Mookherjee in their lives.
Dr. Nirmal Singh said that it is a day of pledge for every nationalist leader and also a day to remember martyrs of Hiranagar, Ramban, Chhamb and Sunderbani, who laid down their lives while fighting the provision of separate symbols. He said that we need to remember Pt. Premnath Dogra also on this occasion, whose contribution was splendid in mobilizing the public for historic agitation of 1953.
Dr. Nirmal Singh said that J&K is an integral part of India and no force will be allowed to create any hurdle in its ties with rest of the country. He said that our coalition in J&K is not ideological alliance but it is an alliance of governance. We are committed for good governance, development and ending corruption but at the same time there will be no compromise on national interests in J&K. He said that it is indeed a matter of satisfaction that a large number of Kashmiri leaders are taking interest in Amarnath Yatra this year and every step is being taken for its smooth conduct. He also announced a number of projects being undertaken for Jammu adding that an announcement for AIIMS will be made very soon and questioned the silence on part of NC and Congress as to why the AIIMS project of 2004 was diluted by the UPA government during its rule. He said that it is for the first time after independence that Jammu is feeling empowered and we are committed for equal treatment to Jammu in all matters and at all levels.
Farooq Khan said that he had been associated with Jan Sangh since student life as he was impressed by the nation-centric approach and ideology of Dr. Mookherjee and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhaya and would continue to inspire others.
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta recalled his days of association during agitation with Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee, stating that this great leader laid down his life for a noble cause and our real tribute is only to take pledge to complete unfinished task left by him. He said that BJP’s MLA from Udhampur Late Lala Shiv Charan Gupta wanted to setup the statue of Dr. Mookherjee in Udhampur but unfortunately it could not be done and now the party should also honour Lala Shiv Charan by unveiling his statue as well in his constituency.
Ashok Khajuria demanded an independent probe into circumstances which led to the death of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee in a jail in Srinagar adding that the truth should be made public about the mysterious death. He further said that the martyrdom of Dr. Mookherjee has left marks in the heart of nationalist people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Ashok Kaul spoke on life of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee and various incidents related to this leader. He also spoke on the social and political career of Dr. Mookherjee and his differences with Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on the issues of Article-370. He also announced that the statue of Pt. Premnath Dogra will be installed in party’s new office complex at Trikuta Nagar on its completion.
Kavinder Gupta said that the young generation of Jammu & Kashmir should be taught about the lives and sacrifices of nationalist leaders like Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee. He expressed hope that the Yuva Morcha of party will take lead in reaching the youth and educate them about the principles and ideology of Dr. Mookherjee.
Chander Prakash Ganga said that it is a day of pride for every activist of the party as these leaders have shown us the path. He demanded that the main chowks and roads should be named after these leaders like Dr. Mookherjee.
Rajesh Gupta spoke on the permit system and focused on need to ensure full integration of the state with the country.
Proceedings of the function were conducted by State General Secretary Munish Sharma and vote of thanks was presented by Gandhi Nagar Mandal President Tarsem Choudhary.
Party leaders including Ramesh Arora, Sakina Bano, Usha Choudhary, Narinder Singh, Amarnath Gupta, Purnima Sharma, Mamta Singh, Rajni Sethi, Harinder Gupta, Mohan Singh Chouhan, Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Aseem Gupta, Chander Mohan Gupta, Parmodh Kapahi, Yudhvir Sethi, N.D. Rajwal, S.S Bijral, Bansi Lal Bharti, Surinder Bhagat, Karan Singh, Jaidev Rajwal, Kashmir Singh, Dr. Krishan Lal, Bharat Bhushan, Ashwani Sharma, Surinder Ambardar, Ashwani Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Praduman Singh, Ayodhya Gupta, Ajay Pargal Ajay Vaid and hundreds of others attended the function.
