Veeri reviews status of ongoing WSS in Anantnag
Srinagar, July 06 (Scoop News)-The Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri has called upon the concerned authorities of Public Health Engineering Department to ensure hassle free drinking water facility to the people. He also stressed for time bound completion ongoing Water Supply Schemes in the district, besides directed to the concerned for formulation of new project reports for upgradation of tapped water facility in the district.
Chairing a high level officers and engineers meeting of PHE Department here today, the Minister said that providing improved and upgraded basic facilities with special thrust on upgradation of drinking water, power supply, health care, education and road connectivity tops the agenda of the government. He said in this regard adequate funds under State and Centre plans are being utilized, adding that concerned functionaries should work with utmost zeal and zest to achieve the development goal envisioned by the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led government in the State.
Reviewing the physical and financial progress of upgradation of tapped drinking water facility in his home constituency Bijbehara, the Minister instructed the concerned officers for formulation of new DPRs for construction of WSS in much needed areas of the constituency. He also directed for taking up construction of WSS Doonepora- Sheetpora, which have been approved by the Central government at a cost of Rs 65 lakh.
Commissioner Secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Chief Engineer, PHE, Joint Director Planning, PHE, I&FC, SE PHE Mechanical, Executive Engineers of different divisions of the district Anantnag attended the meeting.
The Minister directed the concerned to expedite the formulation and submission of DPRs of WSS Thajiwara, Chackihoti and Malikpora-Akura for sanctioning at the earliest. He also instructed repairs and renovation of damaged WSSs and water Reservoirs of Sangnard and Khirm.
While reviewing the physical and financial status of WSSs Bijbehara constituency, the Minister was apprised that at present 14 WSSs at the total estimated cost of Rs. 34.48 crore are under construction in the constituency under different schemes. He was also apprised that so far Rs. 10.18 crore have been expended on these schemes and after their fully completion these schemes would provide tapped water facility to 8714 souls of 62 habitations of the area.
