`Indian Cultural Forum, Jammu organizes musical programme

Jammu, July 06 (Scoop News)- `Indian Cultural Forum, Jammu in its ‘Galaxy’ series of musical programmes, organized a musical-cum- literary evening in the auditorium of Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu. The music programme was based on the Dogri Poetry of well known writer & poet Mohan Singh and the songs composed by Sham Saajan, a well known gazal singer and music composer of the state. Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan was the chief guest and S Narsingh Dev, veteran poet, writer and painter, Jamwal presided over the function. Gyaneshwar Sharma, a prominent poet and V P Puri, Secretary, Red Crodd Society were the gueats of honour. Sh Joginder Chhatarpal, President, Dogri Sanstha, was special guest on this occasion.
The programmestarted withwelcome address by Prof. Lalit Mangotra, Chief Patrom of the Forum. He informed the audience that the forum is organizing events on songs based on different hues of a single poet. He added that the forum will soon star ‘Melody Series’ of musical evenings will be organized where one upcoming singer will be explored in his/ her possibilities in the sphere of singing.
In the performance round of the musical evening, Gursharan Kaur presented a song in Dogri in ‘Desh raag to get high applaud from the audience. Sagam Pant sang a Dogri song written in Sufi style of poetry, in ‘Raag Tilak’ and Apoorva Jamwal presented Dogri song in ‘Raag Kaati’ which was received with thunderous cheers. Rahul Kumar and Virender Kapadia presented songs of Mohan Singh’s poems in ‘Raag Malkauns’ and ‘Raag Deshkar’ respectively with a great applause. Mohan Sigh recited two of his poems on the stage. In the end of the musical round Sha Saajan also preswnted a ghazal in Raag Mishr Rageshwari with mesmerizing effect on the audience.
It may be reminded that the India Cultural Forum ha already presented a number of ‘Galaxy Series’ programmes of Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu poetry of the poets of the state, that include the poets like Prof. Jagan Nath Azad, Manzar Aazmi, Hakeem anzoor, Abid Manavari, Maikash Kashmiri, Talib Aimnabadi, Arsh Sehbai, Vidya Ratn Aari, Pritpal Singh Betab, O P Sharma Sarthi, Khalid Bashir, Anand Saroop Anjum, Sagar Sehrai, Joginderpal Teer, Sham Talib, Liaqat jafri, Parvez Malik, Prem Nath Shastri, Bishan Singh Dardi, K K Shakir, Desh Ra...
