NC sole guardian of State's honor :Dr. Farooq
Travels to Anantnag and back by Train
Srinagar, April 24 (Scoop News)-National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Friday said that National Conference was the sole guardian of the State's honor and that phases in electoral politics cannot overshadow the deep history of sacrifices that the party has rendered without any considerations of power and partisanship. Addressing people at the Chaharum Majlis of Veteran NC Stalwart and Former Minister Late Peer Abdul Gani Shah Veeri, Dr. Farooq Abullah said those who who had sold their souls for the petty trappings of power today were the same people who led one intrigue after another against the special status and identity of J&K in the past.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah boarded the Train to Anantnag at Nowgam Railway Station in Srinagar along with party leaders and activists Friday morning and upon arrival at Khanabal Railway Station drove straight to the house of Late Veeri where he offered Fateha for the deceased leader and prayed for peace to his soul. Dr. Farooq Abdullah also conducted the Dastaarbandi of Late Veeri's sons NC Leader and MLC Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri and his younger brother Mr. Tariq Ahmed Veeri and implored on them to follow the footsteps of their father and make the welfare of the poor masses their mission in life.

"National Conference is a party with a glorious history - one of honor, one of sacrifices and one of a selfless pursuit to empower the people of this great State. Even our adversaries have to admit that National Conference has been the pioneer of empowerment in the State. In the progress and prosperity of the common man - the farmer, the shopkeeper, the labourer and the striving daily wager - lies the success and honor of our State and our nation. Political power is not an end in itself but is a medium to serve the people and bring about progress, transparency and socio-economic welfare. Every leader, legislator and worker of National Conference should strive in this direction - while in power or while in the opposition. Public service is not a derivative or a pre-requisite to attain power - it is a noble cause that needs to be valued and upheld without any motives", Dr. Farooq Abdullah said while addressing supporters in Anantnag.

Stating that the youth of the State were its pillars of strength, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said the foremost aim of any Government should be the welfare and prosperity of its youth. "Our youth will lead us to a better tomorrow - they need to be empowered and brought into the realm of policy making. Today there is no village or far-fetched inhabitation in the State where hard-working young students are not attaining great success in academics and these are the young men and women who will carry forward the State's glorious history. They deserve the best jobs, they deserve the best possible amenities and facilities and they deserve to be heard. The youth should mould the policies of the Government and not the other way round", Dr. Farooq added.

Lashing out at those political forces who are plotting new schemes and covert projects to divide the people of the State and to isolate communities from each other, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said the people of Kashmir dont need lectures on secularism and amity from those who are blind to the social and cultural history of the State. "We are one people, and we will remain one. There have been intrigues to divide us since before 1947 and there will always be over and covert forces who will try their best to divide and weaken us - so that they can derive political dividends from this division. National Conference never allowed these forces to suceed in the past and till National Conference exists and till the last National Conference worker is alive - nobody will be allowed to toy with the amity, peace and honor of this State and its people", Dr. Farooq Abdullah added while speaking in Anantnag. Dr. Farooq Abdullah boarded the train back from Anantnag to Srinagar around noon.

Senior National Conference Leaders including NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Peer Mohammad Afaq, MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmed Kaloo, MLA Homshalibug Advocate Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu, Iftikhar Misgar, Sajjad Shaheen, Advocate Farooq Ahmed Ganai, Ghulam Nabi Bhat Adigami, Imran Nabi Dar besides numerous of Party Leaders, office bearers of the parent and youth wings and workers participated in the Fateha Khwani on the Chaharum of Late Abdul Gani Shah Veeri and paid glorious tributes to the departed leader.
