No more rhetoric, deliver on ground: CPI(M)
Jammu, March 29 (Scoop News)-The delegate session of 10th Party Conference of CPI(M) at Jammu started with flag hoisting by senior party leader, Abdul Hamid Wani. A three member presidium consisting of G.N.Malik as convenor, Shamd Prasad Kesar and Mohd.Maqbool Ganaie as its members was elected to conduct the proceedings of the session.
While inaugurating the Conference of CPI(M), Sitaram Yechury, Member, Polit Bureau CPI(M) and Member, Rajya Sabha, said that the formation of the PDP-BJP government in the state is not based on principles but the only binding force of this coalition seems to be the hunger/greed for power sharing. . He continued that now the govt. has been formed on Common Minimum Programme(CMP), it should concentrate on implementing the promises made in it so that the people who have been badly suffering particularly after the devastating floods, get some relief. Under these circumstances CPI(M) has to play a responsible role in uniting the people of the state and other secular-democratic political forces to pressurize the coalition government to execute the promises made in the CMP, he said. Lamenting on the role, the party has been playing on national level to thwart the anti people policies of Modi Govt., CPI(M) took foremost part in leading 14 party delegation in the form of “Paidal march” from Parliament House to Rashtripati Bhawan against the ordinance amended Land Acquisition Act. He said that the Modi mantra that “Ache din Aane walay hain” stand exposed before the people of the country as nothing good has happened for last 10 months for the people as contrary, the policies of Modi govt. are bound to benefit the MNCs and corporate houses of the country. Ministers and MPs of the ruling party have been spreading venom against religious minorities since the formation of this govt.in May. 2014, which is likely to cause havoc for the national unity and integrity, he questioned the criminal silence of the Prime Minister over the issue and added that vandalization of 9 churches in last week has exposed the claims of the government that it will go to any extent to safeguard the rights of the religious minorities in the country. Under given situation it is the prime responsibility of CPI(M) to unite the left and other secular-democratic forces to frustrate these communal and parochial designs of the Sang parivar so that national unity, communal harmony and brotherhood is maintained at all costs.
Addressing the delegate session, senior leader of CPI(M) and MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said that government is on public scanner and now is the time for deliverance on ground as our people have suffered on various fronts particularly due to recent floods who need to be rehabilitated on war footing. The coalition government must fulfill the promises made in the CMP and should not waste time in mere rhetoric, he stated. He stressed that comprehensive plan needs to be formulated for tackling alarming unemployment situation, enhancement of social security measures in favour of ASHAs, Anganwadi workers/helpers, workers in unorganized sector.
The conference adopted following resolutions demanding:-Rehabilitation of flood victims on war footing. Enough is enough. Nor more delay. Concrete measures must be taken on ground. Even today again many nallahs in Kashmir are flooded and those who have suffered huge losses are in the grip of panic. Rescue operations must be organized immediately so that further losses are prevented.
Agriculture and horticulture being the nerve centre of our economy have suffered huge losses due to recent floods and rainfall. Horticulture sector has remained neglected by successive regimes. There is no market support available to the growers. Neither any concrete measure has been taken to build post-harvest infrastructure. Besides, the orchards have suffered huge losses because of spurious pesticides and fertilizers.CPI(M) urges upon the govt.to take measures to put an end to this supply of spurious pesticides and fertilizers and provide same to the growers through co-operatives . 2nd-grade fruit must be procured by the department and the growers must be paid remunerative prices.
Unemployment problem in our state is alarmingly on increase in our state. Even in the recent budget nothing concrete has been suggested by the government. Casual and daily rated workers engaged in different departments are not being paid wages in time. Even those engaged in different schemes are not being paid salaries for months. The govet.must act in this regard quickly and take measures to create viable avenues for the unemployed youth. Act, otherwise it will be too late....
