J&K artists enthral audience at Varanasi
Jammu, February 23, (Scoop News)-The artists of Jammu and Kashmir enthralled audience at Assi Ghat, Varanasi with their mesmerizing performance in a programme ‘Jashn-e-Kashmir’ organized by North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Allahabad in collaboration with District Cultural Organization and District Administration, Varanasi.
Divisional Commissioner, Varanasi R. M. Srivastava was chief guest on the occasion.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by the dignitaries Chief Guest, Director, NCZCC, Allahabad Gourav Krishan Bansal , Director, Folk and Tribal Arts Culture Society, Lucknow Dr Ratnesh Verma, , Deputy Commissioner, Varanasi, SSP, Varanasi and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
While speaking on the occasion the, chief guest appreciated the artists of Jammu and Kashmir and said that the public of Varanasi has witnessed the rich and composite culture of Jammu and Kashmir and this became possible with the efforts of North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Allahabad who organized Jashn-e-Kashmir for the first time in Varanasi.
Earlier, while welcoming large gathering including a sizeable number of foreign visitors at the venue, Gourav Krishan Bansal said that the main thrust of organizing Jashn-e-Kashmir is to provide an opportunity to the artists of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to interact with the people of Varanasi through entertaining them with their performances and also to enlighten the audience about the culture, customs, rituals, traditions and festivals of Jammu and Kashmir. He also said that in the month of March, 2016, NCZCC will hold Octave a mega festival of north eastern states. He thanked J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for the support in organizing this festival.
The performances were given by Gular Ahmad and Party, Rouf (Kashmiri), Nazir Ahmad and Party, Bachnagma (Kashmiri), Krishan Singh and Party, Kud (Dogri), Tariq Ahmad and Party (Pahari), Razia Begum and Party (Gojri), Ramesh Singh and Party (Dogri) Bashir Ahmad and Party, Band Pather(Kashmiri),Ghulam Ahmad Shah and Party Dhammali Dance(Kashmiri), Chunit Angmo and Party (Ladakhi), Mohan Mistry and Party Haran dance (Dogri). The program started with the Santoor performed by the prominent santoor performer Ms Shruti Adhikari from Bhopal. More than 100 artists from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh participated in Jashn-e-kashmir.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, and the proceedings of the programme were conducted in a befitting manner by renowned anchor and artist of Varanasi Sanjay Pursarthi.
