Rigzin urges Ladakhi youth to pair it up with hard-work and dedication for the society

Leh,February 21, (Scoop News)- A motivational and interactive meet between Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Leh Rigzin Spalbar and a group of 63 students of IFYBL (International Fellowship for Young Buddhists of Ladakh) held today at the centre open space of Council Secretariat LAHDC Leh.
CEC talking to the group of students, teachers and staff of IFBYL, briefly talked about the history, monarch, climatic and economic conditions before and after opening up of Ladakh to the tourists in the year 1974. Making stark comparison between hard working but self reliant period to the present period that is becoming more and more reliable on outside sources, CEC stressed on the dire need for having sustainable and land-based economy where there is high potential in other land-based opportunities like Pashmina, Sea-buck thorn and apricots other than main stream agricultural practice.
Answering the questions of the students, Spalbar talked about Vision Document 2025; initiatives accomplished and future plans of the Council under his chairmanship and also shared his personal life with the students. Further, he talked about the positive and negative effects of tourism on Ladakh and its people and therefore stressed on the urgent need for preservation and strengthening of our identity. Terming Ladakhis among knowledgeable by nature, CEC urged the youth to pair it up with hard-work and dedication for their own sake and for the society at large.
Inspiring them be a good human being and motivating the gathering, Spalbar advised them to shy away from falling into the depths of bad habits and learn from their own mistakes and thus keep themselves informed and updated. He further advised them to study not to find a job but to learn and gain knowledge.
Earlier, founder and trainer of IFYBL Tsewang Norboo expressed gratitude to CEC for his time and briefed him about the day-long schedule at Dhamma House Stok and other activities being carried out by this organisation in Ladakh and other parts of the country.
The students of this camp, who come from different backgrounds and institutions, are currently having meditational and other courses at Dhamma House Stok and some of them said that they were fascinated by CECs personality and appreciated for the open discussion about his personal and professional life.

Dorjay thanks GOI for sanctioning of Rs.650 crores to border area
Leh,February 21, (Scoop News)- The Executive Councilor, Animal and Sheep Husbandry LAHDC, Leh Gurmet Dorjay on behalf of the Changthang representatives of Nyoma and Durbok block extended his heartiest gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs Govt of India for sanctioning of Rs.650 crores to the border area of nomad’s people.

He said that the Changthang Eastern part of Ladakh region are totally depend on rearing Pashmina Sheep, Goats and Yak but the region where the crisis happened and mortality of livestock’s in a very huge numbers in the month of February 2013. The region usually receives very little precipitation, but that year the area experienced snowfall in the 3rd week of January followed by more snowfall in the first week of February 2013. The livestock are grazed on the rangelands throughout the year with no stall feeding option he added.

Gurmet Dorje had meeting with Joint Secretary Ministry of Home
Affairs GOI K.K.Pathak on December2014 and submitted proposal of detailed lost of livestock and also demanded for the improvement of life standard of the nomads under which construction of three set rooms for nomads and installation of solar light system and also purpose to give honorarium to the Shepherds an amount of Rs, 8000 to 10000 per month, accordingly the Ministry of Home Affairs has recently sanctioned an amount of Rs.650 crores to the nomads of Changthang.

Gurmet Dorje also congratulated to the people of Changthang region for their fulfillment of demand and these will really helpful for the nomads of Changthang who are depending on rearing of Sheep and Goats.
