Union Home Secy reviews post flood operations in Reasi
Delegations meet Union Home Minister
Reasi, February 01, (Scoop News)- Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami today reviewed post flood operations in flood-hit Reasi area of Jammu region. The Union Home Secretary took stock of the situation in a meeting chaired by him here on Sunday afternoon.
Addressing the meeting, Goswami said that he has come here to listen to the people’s problems. He gave full assurance to the people to take up their demands, adding that the area has witnessed development in various sectors but there is a need to gear up efforts by the concerned line departments to give impetus to the developmental activities for strengthening delivery mechanism and boost tourism.
Goswami assured all help from the Centre to the State to overcome the difficulties and help relief and rehabilitation of the affected population. He added that a comprehensive report of his tour would be sent to the Government of India as early as possible.
He further impressed upon all the officers to make optimum use of the available resources to provide better services to the people. He stressed for coordinated and dedicated efforts for strengthening the developmental initiatives.
Earlier Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Shabir Ahmad Bhatt briefed the Union Secretary about post flood situation and various developments works in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Vivek Gupta, all the district officers, all sub divisional magistrates were present in the meeting.
Delegations drawn from remote parts of Reasi district later met Union Home Secretary. The delegation included people from Bhomag, Mahore, Chassana, Thakarakote, Arnas, Thuroo and Reasi town.
People put forward their demands which mainly included to speed up post flood reconstruction and rebuilding purposes, road connectivity, tourist infrastructure development, creation of Reasi Development Authority, implementation of Master plan of area, redressal of unemployment, ration supply, inadequate medical facilities, water supply, establishment of power grid station, posting of staff in newly created blocks/Tehsils/Sub-divisions, etc.
