| Culprit in Pulwama rape and murder case should get death sentence:NC | | An example should be made out of the culprit – NC Spokesman | Srinagar, December 20, (Scoop News)- National Conference on Saturday, while condemning in the strongest of terms the rape and murder of a girl in Pulwama, has demanded that the culprit should be handed out a death sentence as this heinous crime qualified as a rarest of the rare cases of dastardly, barbaric behavior. NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said the people of the State expect swift and time-bound justice in the case and it is imperative that an example be made out of the culprit so that such heinous crimes are prevented in the future.
“This crime has shocked the entire State and one cannot even imagine the pain and sorrow the family of the victim must be going through. Although no legal measure, verdict or sentence can bring back this daughter of the nation and this without any doubt is an inconsolable tragedy, we demand fast-tracked judicial proceedings in the matter and ask for the sternest of punishments be considered for the culprit so that a sense of justice is upheld. This without a doubt seems like a rarest of the rare scenarios of injustice and barbarism and hence we demand the honorable courts consider hanging the culprit death sentence” NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said in a statement issued from NC Headquarters in Srinagar.
The NC Spokesman also implored on community leaders, religious scholars and social activists to work towards evolving an understanding of the perils of social waywardness and work together towards ensuring that our society remains safe for women. “The safety of women should be a topmost priority for our Police. This tragic case comes days after the acid-attack case in Srinagar and both highlight a need for an intensive societal introspection. Our society has always taken pride in upholding the rights, dignity and safety of women and we all should work very hard to preserve this ethos. Any act of harassment or criminal intimidation towards a woman should be met with swift justice and exemplary punishment. We need to set very high standards of justice to act as a deterrent”, the NC Spokesman further added.
