| Lalok Sports Association & Army conducts inter villages / schools Ice Hockey Tournament in Chushul | | 12 teams participate |  Chushul (Ladakh), December 15, (Scoop News)-Army’s Chushul Brigade under the aegis of Trishul Division organised inter village ice hockey tournament at Tangtse, a defence official told Scoop News on
Monday.
Ice hockey is a popular sport of Ladakh region during winters and also captures the essence of local sport, especially when the water bodies
freeze in the extreme cold, the local youth immerse their heart and soul into the ice hockey rink.
The official said as part of the operation Sadbhavna to encourage local talent in sports, "late Lady Cadet Stanzin Odzes Memorial Inter Village Ice Hockey Tournament", is being organized in the area.
The tournament is being conducted with active involvement of the local "Lalok Sports Association", the official said.
He said tournament witnessed the participation of a dozen of ice hockey teams of the local villages /schools.
During the tournament, the skill, the speed, the enthusiasm, the ferocity and the fighting spirit of the Ladakhi Players was displayed. The sport being
enormously popular, the locals in huge numbers thronged the venue to cheer for their favourite teams.
The colourful extravaganza also witnessed a cultural programme by the locals presenting the traditional Ladakhi dances and ‘Bhangra’ by the Army Troops, he said.
The tournament, the official said, would culminate on Wednesday with the conduct of final match and prize distribution ceremony.
