DDC celebrates Diwali at Relief Camps; Nariniketan
Kathua,October 24, (Scoop News)-District Administration, Kathua, organised diwali programmes at migrant relief camps in Hiranagar and kathua bases Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan where Deputy Commissioner accompanied by Addl Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Ramaswami, SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal, DSWO Kathua and other officers distributed sweets, gift items and sports articles for students.
An impressive function was organised at Nari Niketan Kathua and Bal Ashram where sweets, ration articles, sports articles and other items were distributed among the inmates. Winter clothing was also provided to the students in hostel. At hiranagar sweets, crackers and other items were distributed among the women and children at relief camps.
District Administration expressed solidarity with the migrants families and reassured their commitment for safe return to the homes with situation normalizing. All the basic services and amenities are being provided to the migrants in relief camps. Meanwhile more than 1000 people again migrated from border villages to designated relief camps in wake of fresh ceasefire violation along international border in Chakra area of Hiranagar.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua along with senior officers visited the migrants and provided relief items. Dedicated buses have also been made available at Hiranagar for ferrying migrants.
Later, the DC reviewed the situation during a meeting of officers and border migrants in the evening. Position of stocks and facilities were also reviewed. He appreciated the extraordinary efforts put in by more than 40 senior officers and their teams under Mission Himayat for evacuating more than 12,000 people well in time and providing all the services at relief camps where the inmates have expressed great satisfaction for basic services and amenities being provided.

Return of migrants is being planned from tomorrow as the situation is expected to return to normal. At present more than 4,000 border residents are staying in shelter camps established by district administration, added DDC....
