Sadhotra thanks Omar for one time settlement of POK Refugees
Jammu, October 21, (Scoop News)- Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra today distributed 94 cheques worth Rs. 6.5 lakh among beneficiaries under Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) RECS Act, 1996.
He was addressing a large attending public meeting at village Paryal in block Marh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for one time settlement package to the POK Refugees and Chamb displaced persons which is going to benefit 36,000 families with package of Rs. 25 lakh to each family.
He also cautioned the people against divisive and communal agenda of other political parties to grab power by exploiting sentiments on the religious and caste base policies.
While highlighting the achievements of Omar led government for the last five and half years, the Minister described Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) and Jammu and Kashmir State Self Employment Scheme (JKSES) as right initiatives to address unemployment problem in the state. He said that these most effective self employment schemes would encourage the youth to earn livelihood as entrepreneurs.
The Minister stressed upon the unemployed educated youth to avail the benefit of such self-employment schemes started by the Government to create employment opportunities.
The Minister said that though the Government would explore all possibility to create jobs in public sector, but the educated youth should also come forward to set up their income generating self employment units to earn with dignity and honour and contribute in the state economy.
Sadhotra also listed the Omar led government achievement for enhancing the retirement age of employees from 58 to 60 years and the upper age limit for youths to obtain government job from 37 to 40 years.
