Veeri cautions against nefarious designs of ruling party
Karra seeks peoples’ support to make J&K free from NC

KISTHWAR, October 20, (Scoop News)-Seeking a decisive mandate for changing fate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Lok Sabha member from Srinagar Parliamentary segment, Tariq Hamid Karra today said that coming Assembly elections were not just to elect MLAs but to elect a chief minister for this sensitive State.
“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during his earlier tenure as Chief Minister of J&K has proved how to deliver good governance to the people by bringing transparency and accountability in the government”, Mr Karra said while addressing an impressive public meeting Kishtwar along with other senior leaders of the party.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Abdul Rehman Veeri, former Minister Peer Mohammad Hussain, Sayeed Asgar Ali, MLC and Ferdous Tak, PDP candidate for Kistwar assembly segment also spoke on the occasion.
“The State of Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a crucial phase at this juncture because during the last six years the present regime has brazenly dismantled all democratic institutions so there is a need to elect a statesman and a capable leader like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as chief minister to get the State out of the unprecedented crisis”, Mr Karra said while listing misdeeds of Omar Abdullah led coalition regime in J&K. He mentioned that it was all due to the wrong policies of the Omar Abdullah led government that alienation of the people was increasing with every passing day.
Urging people to become part of the on-going movement for change in J&K, Mr Karra said that every vote cast in favour of PDP would strength hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who has capability to change destiny of the people of the State.
Pointing towards coming Assembly elections, he said, “It would not be fight between individual candidates in their respective constituencies but the elections would provide people of J&K an opportunity to elect Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of this State”.
Mr Karra, who has created history by defeating National Conference stalwart Dr Farooq Abdullah in Lok Sabha elections, said that defeat of NC from Srinagar Parliament segment was an indicator that change was imminent in J&K. “Srinagar Parliamentary seat was considered as citadel of NC but defeat of Dr Farooq Abdullah from that seat has proved that NC is going to be wiped out in the coming assembly elections”, he said and asked people of Kishtwar to over-whelming support PDP candidate in the coming assembly elections to make J&K free from NC.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rehman Veeri cautioned the people against nefarious designs of ruling National Conference which brazenly raked up emotions of the people for petty personal gains. “Except exploiting sentiments of the people, NC has done nothing for socio-economic growth of people of this belt”, he said.
Reminding the people about various steps which taken during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mr Veeri said that ambitious Vaillo tunnel was dream project of Mufti Sahib to connect Kishtwar with Kashmir. He assured the people that PDP would complete this project at any cost.
Veeri, who is conducting an extensive tour of Chenab Valley region along with other senior leaders, said that there was strong wave of favour of PDP in this belt. “People of Chenab Valley are looking for an alternative of Congress and NC in this belt and they have made up their mind to support PDP this time in the Assembly elections”, Mr Veeri said and representatives of Chenab Valley have miserable failed to come up to the expectations of the people. “Backwardness in this region is a clear indication of the failure of peoples’ representatives”, he said.
Party candidate for Kishtwar assembly segment, Ferdous Tak, in his address, regretted that residents of Kishtwar was treated only as vote bank but never an serious effort was made to ameliorate lot of the people. “This region is full of natural resources but residents of this region are, unfortunately, struggling to get basic amenities”, he said and companies involved in construction of hydro election projects have sanctioned two percent under Local Area Development Project as part of Corporate Social Responsibility but there was no accountability of that project.
Mr Tak also demanded that Kishtwar should also be connected with Pangi areas of Himachal Pradesh via Paddar as this route would help in improving social economic conditions of the people.
Arshad Malik, Sheikh Nazir Hussain, Qazi Mushtaq, Noor Hussain Malik, Umer Malik, Wasil Doolwal, Capt Ashraf, Suresh Sharma, Joginder Mahajan, Jagdish Kumar, Jagdish Rana and others also spoke on the occasion.
