Fire & Fury Corps commemorates "Remembrance Day" of defenders of Ladakh during tribal raid | | Leh (Ladakh), October 16, (Scoop News)_To commemorate the bravery and courage of the people of Ladakh and Indian Army in 1947 against the Pakistani raiders, the Fire and Fury Corps, is celebrating "Defenders of Ladakh (1947) --Remembrance Day" at the newly constructed picturesque Colonel Sonam Wangchuk, (MVC) Stadium.
According to a defence official, the celebrations of the historic event, a T-20 CricketTournament, Polo Tournament, Archery Competition and Tent Pegging Competition between the teams of the Ladakh region were being organised since Wednesday.
He said a marathon run would also be organised on October 26.
The Opening Ceremony of the T-20 Cricket tournament, the official said, was held on Wednesday and was presided over by Brigadier SS Dhadwal, Station Commander.
The spectators enjoyed a gala performance by the pipe band of Ladakh Scouts, a Cultural Programme and Lion dance by SOS, TCV (Choglamsar) and a March Past by the eight participating Cricket teams from entire the Ladakh region.
The official said the first T-20 match was played between teams of Ladakh Scouts and Exide club which was won by Ladakh Scouts by 18 Runs, and the second match in the afternoon was played between Friends club and the Servo club which was won by the Servo club by 25 runs.
The finals of T-20 Cricket Tournament will be played on October 19, Sunday, the official said. ... |
