Ministers ignoring crises, busy in inaugural functions: Tak
Regrets total neglect of flood hit people of Chenab Valley

Kishtwar, September 30, (Scoop News)- Srinagar, September 30, (Scoop News)- Lashing the state government for showing total indifference towards the plight of flood hit people of Chenab Valley, prominent People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and party candidate for Kishtwar assembly constituency, Firdous Tak today expressed surprise over the conduct of some ministers who were resorting to inaugural functions and stone laying ceremonies at a time when Jammu and Kashmir was passing through a difficult phase.
Tak expressed regret that the Ministers are doing nothing to assess the losses in Chenab Valley region and continue with the practice of holding photo sessions for media coverage when they should actually be ensuring relief and rehabilitation work.
“It is highly unfortunate that hundreds of houses have been damaged in Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts while thousands of Kanals of land has been washed away across the region, including inaccessible areas Marwah, Warwan, Dachan and Chatroo areas but the people are still waiting for any relief.” Tak said. He said that people are waiting for compensation to rebuild their damaged houses immediately in view of the approaching winter but the Ministers are only issuing media statements and doing nothing on the ground.
Wondering how the ruling party politicians were flouting the strictures of their own Government, he said that the local MLA of Kishtwar, who is also junior minister in Omar Abdullah’s government, was camping in Marwa area for last three days along with the district administration and organizing inaugural functions for New Administrative Units (NAU), roads and other works while ignoring the circular wherein the government had said that there will be no formal inauguration for the functioning New Administrative Units in view of emergency situation created due to floods.
He said that the ruling party ministers were blatantly using govt machinery to show their presence in post flood situation, while they were missing on the ground when needed most. He said that the administration has also been taken hostage when it should have been allowed to carry out the relief and rehabilitation work. Instead of heeding woes of the flood affected families of Marwah, the Minister has been indulged into inauguration spree for cheap publicity and photo sessions.
“For the last three days the minister has been inaugurating various projects at Marwah without caring for flood affected families of Marwah”, he said and pointed out that huge chunk of agriculture land was washed away in Marwah also. The PDP leader said floating of their own government’s orders by the Minister shows their political bankruptcy and lack of control of the Chief Minister over his own political executive.
