High level BJP team on Kashmir tour

Srinagar September 30, (Scoop News)- A high level team of J&K BJP led by State President & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and comprising of Leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria, State Election Campaign Committee Chairman Dr. Nirmal Singh, State Spokesperson Farooq Khan, Senior leader Ch. Lal Singh, Ex-Servicemen Cell State Convenor Brig. Anil Gupta and MLA Baldev Raj Sharma, reached Srinagar this morning for personal assessment of the post floods situation in different parts of the valley.
According to BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, this high level team, soon after its arrival at Srinagar, extensively toured Nudras Colony, Bemina, Lal Chowk, Jawahar Nagar, Mandir Bagh and over half a dozen other areas of Srinagar city, where they interacted with the local people and listened to their grievances. The team will have meetings with the party’s local leaders and activists to have the first hand information. It will also visit other areas of Kashmir to personally take stock of the damage and loss caused by the rains and the resultant floods.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while expressing party’s sympathies with the affected families in the said areas, assured them that BJP stands with them in this hour of grief and sorrow and that we will not rest till last affected family is rehabilitated. He said that the people have complaints against the state government as in many areas no relief has reached yet and stressed upon the govt to gear up its machinery to help the people.
Dr. Nirmal Singh said that the natural calamity has caused immense losses of precious lives besides causing damages to the houses, business establishments, roads, bridges etc and gave assurance that a detailed report will be prepared to be submited to the central government highlighting the problems of the people. He further announced that BJP will take up the same with the local administration also for relief distribution on war footing and earliest rehabilitation before the onset of the winters.
Ashok Khajuria also expressed his concern for delay in providing relief to the affected families as a result of which there are cries, sufferings and problems.
Ch. Lal Singh said that if the state government still do not wake and come forward to help people, it will have to pay heavy price in near future as the people have anger and resentment against Omar Abdulah led coalition government.
Farooq Khan said that this calamity could have been prevented in Srinagar city in particular had the government takem precautionary measures.
Brig. Anil Gupta and Baldev Raj Sharma also criticised the state government for not doing what it should have done from day one and added that the BJP activists in Kashmir will extend every help to the affected families.
