| Abrol visits flood effected area, distributes blankets | | Jammu, September 17, (Scoop News)-Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Party (JKPCC), Hira Lal Abrol, today asked the State Government to provide relief and compensation of to flood victims in Jammu region.
Hira Lal Abrol along with senior party leaders visited flood affected area near Old University Campus, Canal Road and interacted with the people. Hira Lal Abrol also distributed blankets and other relief material to the affected families.
While visiting these areas, Hira Lal regretted that government has failed to rise on the occasion. He pointed out that miseries of people have been increasing with every passing day but authorities have yet to take any concrete steps.
He said after passing of two weeks nothing concrete has been done on ground to provide relief to the affected families. Abrol demanded that teams of Revenue Department should be immediately deputed to the affected areas to assess the total losses.
The people brought forward the demands and projected that houses of the area have suffered cracks and their household material destroyed for which a rehabilitation package needs to be devised. Abrol listened to the grievances of the affected and assured that the demands projected by them would be taken up for consideration in the district administration at the earliest.
Expressing his concern over miseries of the people, Hira Lal Abrol asked the government to provide free ration to the residents of flood affected areas. At some places people have lost everything in the floods so there is need to immediate provide ration and other materials to save them from starvation, he added.
“Congress leadership commits to continue support to those in need and would leave no stone unturned to reach out to those who have been hit by the disaster,” Abrol said.
He further said that for proving support of the government to those hit by the recent rains and flood, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Former Union Ministers Ambika Soni, Prof. Saif Ud Din Soz along with a team of senior leaders conducted tour of all the flood affected districts.
Hira Lal Abrol was accompanied with Bhagwan Singh, Suresh Kumar Dogra, S Dalbir Singh, S Hukam Singh and others.
