Ganderbal Distt plan pegged at Rs. 74.32 cr
Sagar asks officers to pace up dev schemes
Ganderbal,September 01, (Scoop News)-Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar today directed the officers to ensure that fast pacing of various schemes is undertaken by the Government for the holistic development of the State so that they are implemented fully and people get benefits from these.
The Minister was addressing officers during the District Development Board meeting of Ganderbal which was convened under his chairmanship. The board approved the district plan at Rs. 74.32 crore.
The board meeting was attended by Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf, Member Parliament, Tariq Hamid Karra, MLC, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Sarmad Hafiz and divisional heads of various other departments.
Sagar said that the Government has undertaken several schemes in different sectors like PHE, R&B, RDD, Health, Housing etc so that holistic development of the State is ensured. He said that these have been instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the area and also provide the much needed job avenues to them. “Clear instructions have been passed to the implementing agencies to ensure their timely completion and also involve people at grass-root levels in their implementation”, he added.
It was given out that under R&B Sector, an amount of Rs. 12.81 crore including additional loan amount of Rs. 5 lakh was provided to the sector which was spent in full during the year 2013-14 thereby recording 100% expenditure under the sector. Various development projects are under execution through JKPCC in the district which includes 200 bedded district hospital at Ganderbal, Bridge at Guzhama, Physical Education College Gadura, Yechama bridge, Akhal bridge and Tangchatri bridge etc. Work on all these project is in full swing and efforts are on for completion of these projects.
Under PHE sector, against the approved outlay of Rs. 4.20 crore for 2013-14 under Capital component, an amount of Rs. 87.57 lakh was made available ending March, 2014 which was spent in full thereby achieving 100% expenditure.
In the irrigation sector, against the approved outlay of Rs. 19.01 crore for the year, an amount of Rs. 7.24 crore was made available ending March, 2014 which was spent in full thereby making the percentage of expenditure as 100. Similarly, under the power sector an amount of Rs. 25.88 lakh has been provided during 2013-14 for repairs of damaged transformers in the district which was spent in full. As many as 468 damaged transformers have been repaired during the last year.
Under the MGNREGA 2157 new works have been completed against a target of 4631 works. Besides, 14.29 lakh man-days were also provided during the last year. Similarly, under IAY 541 dwelling units have been taken up out of which 101 have been completed during 2013-14.
It was also given out that during 2013-14 an amount of Rs. 37.48 crore has been earmarked under the health sector out of which Rs. 37.35 has been expended. Similarly, under Urban Development, an amount of Rs.25.50 lakh an expenditure of Rs. 23.25 lakh has been registered by taking up various works of civic amenities in 17 municipal wards of the district.
Under Self Employment sector, Rs. 1.76 crore has been registered as expenditure out of the total allotted amount of Rs. 1.87 crore by sponsoring 352 self employment cases and 297 cases stands disbursed by end of March 2014.
Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf Ahmed also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various issues pertaining to his constituency. He said that we have to ensure that the benefit of various welfare programmes reaches the targeted populace by ensuring maximum utilization of the funds.
MP, Tariq Hamid Karra and MLC, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool also addressed the meeting and highlighted various issue of public importance.
Earlier, the Minister accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and other senior officers conducted an extensive tour of the district to oversee the implementation of various welfare programme. He directed the officers to ensure timely completion of the developmental works undertaken for the holistic development of the district.
Sagar while inspecting the pace of work on the 200 bedded hospital at Ganderbal directed the MD JKPCC to ensure that it is completed within shortest possible time so that people get the requisite and quality health care facilities within the district and they do not have to travel to other districts in order to get the specialized treatment.
The Minister also directed the Director Urban Local Bodies and Chief Engineer R&B to fast pace the work on the Bus Stand being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs. 12 crore and spread over 90 kanals of land at Ganderbal so that passengers travelling to other parts of the district and catchment districts do not face any inconvenience.
