Kyagar Thundel Tsogspa organizes 2 days Festival to promote tourism

Leh,August 29, (Scoop News)- Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Leh, Rigzin Spalbar today presided as the chief guest on the valedictory function of 2 days Kyagar Thundel Festival in Kyagar, Nubra. The festival was organised by the Kyagar Thundel Tsogspa with an aim to promote tourism in Sumoor and Kyagar villages of Nubra.

Terming Tourism and Army an impermanent source of income in Ladakh, CEC stressed upon sustainable development in Ladakh which can be achieved only through land based economy and talking about the limitations of government jobs he urged upon the villagers and the youth that it is high time to make this sub sustained economy more productive and remunerative by exploring the fullest potential of every section of agriculture and its allied sectors.
Talking about the increasing number of tourist inflow since last few years, CEC said that we do need to give best of the services to them but we also have to think about the negative impacts to our fragile environment. Talking about the optimum usage of the Art and Craft Centre which was inaugurated last year by J&K Tourism Minister G.A.Mir, CEC promised that he will provide financial help only if it is used in its exact sense.
Answering the requests of Councilor Kyagar Rigzin Wangdus CEC said that an amount of 10 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of library at Samstanling Gonpa and also other requests made by Councilor have already been included in the plan.

In the end congratulating the villagers for organizing the festival he appreciated them for their effort which is helpful in keeping our century’s old tradition intact. CEC congratulating on successful completion of Kalachakra Sermon expressed his appreciation to all and urged upon the need to practice the noble teachings of HH Dalai Lama of love, compassion and character building which is also part of Ladakhs’ rich culture.

Addressing the gathering Mohd. Shafi Lassu, EC Tourism said that Kyagar and Sumoor were declared tourist villages in Sept. 2008 under Rural Tourism Scheme by Ministry of Tourism, GOI considering their potential for tourism business because of their exceptional natural beauty as well as rich historical and cultural heritage. He urged upon the people of Nubra in general to preserve the unique beauty and culture of their valley to boost tourism further as Nubra is one of most important tourist destination in Ladakh region.

Speaking in tandem, EC Health, Dr. Sonam Angchuk stressed that the youth holds the responsibility to preserve the language, tradition and culture passed on by our ancestors and made special appeal to the youth of Nubra to work seriously towards it.

Councilor, Kyagar, Rigzin Wangdus highlighted upon the objective of celebrating the festival which is now an annual feature from past 3 years. On behalf of the public he urged upon the CEC to give financial assistance for renovation of Kyagar Manekhang, building library at Samstanling Gonpa and also demanded for early opening of Yarma Gonbo for Tourism. He also announced Rs.50,000 from his constituency development fund for the development works in these villages and urged upon the youth to participate in workshops and trainings in tourism sector provided by Govt.

President, INC, Tsering Samphel also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the Kyagar Thundel Tsogspa for their efforts. P. Namgial, Former MP and Chief Exe. Officer, Urban Dev. Authority, Urgain Lundup were also present on the occasion.

A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
