RBI organizes Quiz Competition

Jammu, August 20 (Scoop News)- Amitesh Mahotra and Aayushman of Army Public School, Kalu Chak won the City Round of the third RBI Quiz Competition organized here today. They will now be competing in the Zonal Finals of RBIQ to be held at New Delhi on November 7, 2014. More than 150 teams from different schools of Jammu Province participated in the Preliminary Round of the Quiz. Out of these, the six teams that reached the Quarter Final stage are Army Public School, Domana, JK Public School, Kunjwani, Army Public School, Kalu Chak, Stephan’s International Public School, R.S.Pura, Jodhamal Public School, Chhanni Himmat and Presentation Convent, Jammu.

Speaking on the occasion, K.K Saraf, Regional Director, RBI for J&K said that the RBIQ was being organized with a view to create awareness and interest about the history and role of RBI, banking, finance, other banking institutions, economics, current affairs, personalities and events that have contributed to the growth and progress of the country over the years. RBIQ is aimed at connecting RBI and the young student community enrolled in schools across the country and achieve extensive dissemination of financial literacy, he added. It also provides an opportunity for recognizing and encouraging bright young students on a national platform. He said that RBIQ is being held at 61 locations across the country and Jammu has been chosen as one of the locations for the third time. RBIQ-2014 will also be organized at Srinagar on August 22, 2014.

Prof. Desh Bandhu, Dean of Business Studies and Director, College Development, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of financial Inclusion and said that the young generation has to play a very significant role in achieving the goal of 100% financial inclusion in the country. The task has assumed all the more significance after the Prime Minister highlighted this in his Independence Day speech, he said.

Dr. Ashish, well known Quizmaster, conducted the Quiz in his inimitable style and kept the teams and the audience glued to their seats throughout the duration of the programme. He asked many questions from the audience and gave away prizes to them for right answers. The audience for the programme constituted, besides the participants, hundreds of students from different schools of Jammu who thoroughly enjoyed the quiz which they found informative as well as entertaining. K.K.Saraf and Prof. Desh Bandhu gave away the prizes to the winners and all the quarter finalists at the conclusion of the Quiz. The programme was conducted by Ravinder Kaul.
