Youth Congress celebrates Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi

Jammu,August 20,(Scoop News)-The Youth Congress today organized a function at its headquarter Shaheedi Chowk Jammu to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi Ji.

The function was presided over by Vice President PYC Pranav Shagotra. Shri Uma Shankar Pandey-Secretary IYC & I/C J&K Youth Congress was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

S/Shri Abid Kashmiri-General Secretary PYC, Satish Sharma-President Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency, Rajveer Singh Manhas-Secretary PYC; Aijaz Choudhary, Anayat Parvez, Prikshit Shagotra, Shabir Kohli, Riki Dalotra, Manmohan Kumar, Raman Gupta were the prominent who attend the function.

While Speaking on the occasion Shri Uma Shankar Pandey described Shri Rajiv Gandhi as the architect of Panchayat Raj System in the Country. He fulfilled the dreams of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi to devolve powers of planning and development to the grass root institutions of democracy, so that the people shape their own destiny as per their needs.

Mr. Pranav Shagotra in his address referred number of achievements of Shri Gandhi during his leadership and said that country emerged as leader of the World in Information Technology due to vision of Rajiv Ji for the youth, whom he gave a direction for the challenges of 21st Century, which showed his farsightedness. The opposition parties had failed to match his vision of use of Computer and IT and criticized at that time. Shri Rajiv Gandhi lowered the voting age from 21 years to 18 years in order to ensure the youth of the country also participate in the electoral systems and take lead in politics to serve the nation with young ideas.

The youth leaders cautioned the party workers about the challenges and designs of communal divisive forces in the state and asked them to work for strengthening secularism and communal harmony in order to maintain the unity and integrity of the state and the country. He appealed them to gear themselves up for the forthcoming assembly elections in the State.
