Govt for providing adequate relief to flood hit populace: Sadhotra

Jammu, July 27 (Scoop News)- Minister for Planning, Labour & Employment, and Development, Ajay Sadhotra today visited flood affected areas of Marh to assess the damage caused to private and public property due to recent rains and flash floods.
The Minister was accompanied by Chief Engineer Flood Control H.C. Jerath, SE Flood Control, XEN Flood Control, and officers from Revenue, Rural Development and other concerned departments.
The Minister visited villages, Mehra Mandlik, Dhateryal, Marh Bagh, Qazitokrian, Chak Jaffar, ghai, Channochak, and other villages, where a number of houses have got partially and fully damaged, and large tracks of cultivated land of the farmers have also been washed away.
The Minister directed the Chief Engineer to immediately start restoration work related to their department for the convenience of the people. He interacted with the affected families and assured them that the government headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is committed to provide adequate compensation to all affected people.
The Minister asked the team of officers to record full details of the losses suffered by each affected family so that their cases are processed for compensation. He assured the people of the area that the administration would extend every help to facilitate their rehabilitation.
He said that the government led by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has given first priority to restoration of services and repair of public assets, besides rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
He said that the Chief Minister himself is monitoring the entire exercise to ensure that none of the affected areas are left out in the restoration process.
Responding to the urgent demands raised by the people for restoration of water and power supply, repair of damaged roads and payment of compensation to those families whose houses were damaged, the Minister assured them that all necessary steps would be taken too meet their demands.
Later, Sadhotra attended Youth Convention organized at Patoli Akhnoor Road in which the youth from six villages of Marh block participated.
The Minister said that youth is the backbone of our society and they should come forward to strengthen the society. He said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked the party workers to address the problems of the youth so that they may not feel alienated in the society. He asked the youth to follow the tradition of secularism so as to maintain unity and integrity.
