| Op Vijay Diwas celebrations commence | | 
Drass/ Srinagar, July 26, (Scoop News)-The 15th Anniversary Celebrations of ‘OPERATION VIJAY DIWAS’ got underway on Friday at Dras. This event is being organised under the aegis of the ‘Forever in Operations’ Formation to commemorate the Indian Army’s victory over the Pakistani intruders in the Kargil Conflict of 1999.
The celebrations commenced in the evening with a brass band display at the Vijayant Helipad near the Drass War Memorial. This was followed by a solemn Beating The Retreat Ceremony and a memorial service, where the attendees paid silent tribute to the fallen souls.
The commemorative event, held every year to mark India’s latest victory, also gave many people the rare opportunity to meet the heroes of the conflict in person and interact with them regarding their memories of the event. The celebrations are planned to continue till Saturday.
