Army reaches out to needs of Kharnak poeple
distribute gifts and other essentials to them



Leh, July 25,(Scoop News)_Indian Army’ Trishul Division organised a day long event under the banner, “Operation Sadbhavana Community
Development 2014-15” at Kharnak near Leh in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.

He said it was attended by various dignitaries from the civilian administration and the Army. Shri Gurmet Dorjay, Councillor, Animal Husbandry and Tourism, Leh graced the occasion.

The spokesman said nearly 200 civilians from Kharnak, Sumdho, Pangmur Karnark, Thukjay,Tasabuk, & Samad and other small villages in the area
participated. Furniture items, PA systems, Kitchen Sets and Solar Lanterns were handed over to seven villages falling under Samad & Kharnak region.

Other gifts were also handed out to the elderly and ex-servicemen of the region.A lunch was organised for all the persons who attended the function.

It has always been an endeavour on the part of the Indian Army to maintain peace and tranquillity in every part of the nation and to reach out to the needs of the people in the remote areas of our
country, he said.
