Grant 100% loss compensation to affected families: Bali Bhagat

Jammu,July 25, (Scoop News)- State BJP has demanded to constitute a high level committee to assess the loss caused due to unprecedented rain, cloud burst and flush floods in the rural areas of district Jammu.
Addressing media persons at party headquarters on Friday the state Gen Secy and former MLA Bali Bhagat after concluding day long tour of villages Mishriwala, Kangrail, Purkhoo, Kalri, Bhalwal and Kaink along with Jammu Rural District President Sukhdev Singh Sarpanch and District General Secretary Omi Khajuria, said that state Govt should constitute a high level committee comprising of top officials of departments like Irrigation & Flood Control, works,power,forest, Agriculture, Soil conservation, Rural Development including civil administration to assess the loss caused due to the unprecedented natural calamity in Raipur-Domana, Akhnoor and Marh constituencies and other areas of Jammu district. Expressing party’s sympathies with the families affected by recent cloudbursts and flash floods.He said that 100% loss compensation should be given to the affected families for which a comprehensive plan must be prepared by the committee for complete rehabilitation of the affected families on the pattern of Ladakh cloud burst rehabilitation plan.
The BJP leader said that more than hundred residential houses and shops got partially damaged and some other kaccha houses were washed away due to recent cloudbursts and flash floods. Number of live stock has been washed away. The roads and communication connectivity got totally collapsed, school buildings, primary health centres etc. too got badly damaged.
The Senior BJP leader also expressed grave concern that neither Chief Minister nor any of his minister deemed it duty to visit the areas and provide any kind of relief. He said that the state government should not adopt different yardsticks for Jammu. He said that the govt should adopt a humane approach in matters related to natural calamities.
He said that the affected families are very poor and are not in a position to start their livelihood without any financial assistance. The government should immediately provide blankets, utensils, ration and other required house hold items forthwith. Govt should provide cement, iron (saria),bricks, sand and other construction material at earliest to those families whose house and business establishment has been damaged in the area under natural calamity relief fund and state disaster relief funds. He stressed upon the coalition govt to start construction work of damaged bridges, roads, culverts and school buildings on war footing basis.
