Model Polling Stations register record turn out

Reasi, April 18, (Scoop News)-As many as, 53 Model Polling Stations set in District Reasi registered a record ever turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
These polling stations were equipped with furniture, building face-lifting, sofas/chairs for seating, tents, TV sets, tokens, first aid centres, help desks, facilities for differently abled and elderly voters, special women assistance desk, signage and so on. Live performance by artists was also arranged at these polling stations for voters in waiting area.
Out of 53 Model Polling Stations, 7 recorded above 90% turnout, 29 were between 80-90 % and 13 recorded turnout between 70-80%. Besides, model Polling stations of Gulabgarh recorded 83.30% turn out, Reasi 79.24 % and in Gool-Arnas the record turnout was 79.43%.
There was also a record gender balancing and improved turnout. The female turn out at these polling stations was 80% yesterday while male voters’ percentage was reported to be 84%, 78%, 77% in Gulabgarh, Gool-Arnas and Reasi segments respectively.
Highest turnout among model polling stations was reported from Shajroo (93%), Seela (95%), Thanpal (94%), Mahore (93%), Parthal (94%) and Thakrakote (94%)
Model Polling stations were sponsored by various departments, PSUs, University and boards. Shiv Khori Shrine Board, NHPC Salal, NMDC Jammu, KRCL Reasi sponsored three model polling stations each while as SMVD University sponsored 2. The departments of Health, Social Welfare, Revenue and Transport among others sponsored 1 each while Rural Development Department sponsored the model signage and help desks.
