Indian Army absolutely apolitical:Farooq Khan
Jammu, April 18, (Scoop News)- Former IGP and the BJP leader Farooq Khan accused the National Conference of creating an "atmosphere of fear and uncertainty" to discourage people from participating in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Farooq Khan, in a statement issued for media, reacted sharply on the statement of National Conference (NC) president and its candidate for Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Dr Farooq Abdullah that Army facilitated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s victory in 2002 Assembly elections. Khan said to divert the people’s attention from their failures, NC leaders are leveling false and baseless allegations on Indian Army and even on BJP. Khan blamed Dr Farooq Abdullah and CM Omar Abdullah for browbeating central leadership on one pretext or the other and exploiting the innocent Kashmiris.
Khan reminded Dr Abdullah that the large scale election rigging in 1987 by National Conference brought an end to the healthy political process in the state and when this resulted in terrorism raising its ugly head Dr. Abdullah resigned as Chief Minister and ran away to London leaving the common masses at the mercy of terrorists aided and abetted by ISI.
It was the brave Jawans of army alongwith Jammu Kashmir police, and para-military forces which on one hand brought back peace to the state, through unparallel sacrifices and on the other resurrected destroyed schools, hospitals, guest houses, restored bridges, Mosques, Mazars and drinking water supplies and provided free medical care and goodwill schools to the suffering Kashmiris. The ruling coterie of NC and Congress which have been ruling the state by deceit and treachery disappeared from the scene in 1989. He said it was NC which exploited the situation in 1996 and once again grabbed power courtesy, mobile and fake voters. He said, after return to power in 1996 the NC did not care to say a word about the sacrifices of large number of officers and men of Indian Army which had freed the state from the clutches of terrorists. Khan also lauded the unparallel contribution and sacrifices of Indian Army, since 1947 for the safety and security of the people of J&K and the great nation of India.

Castigating Union Minister Farooq Abdullah, Khan said NC leaders after seeing the writing on the wall and their defeat in the Parliamentary elections in panic are now trying to drag the Indian Army in an unnecessary controversy. BJP condemn all such nefarious attempts of maligning the fair name of Indian Army which as an institution is considered to be absolutely impartial in political matters. He said that NC is creating fear-psychosis in the minds of people in Kashmir and said that the leadership of this party is habitual of spreading rumours and creating confusion to arrange pre-poll rigging in their favour.
He said, “National Conference is again trying the same game plan in the current Lok Sabha elections, but people are now wise enough not to fall prey to the mischievous plans of NC.
He said the past history of NC is testimony of the double standards it has made its trait.
Commenting upon the recent statement of Dr. Farooq Abdullah wherein he has desired to use terrorists and bombs to liquidate his political opponents, Khan demanded that the agencies investigating the murder of a Sarpanch belonging to a particular political party in Kashmir yesterday, must look into the role of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his party in this incident and he should be arrayed as an accused for instigating this murder through his utterances. Khan asked the people to be aware of the tactics and politics of National Conference and reject its game plan for power grab, for the larger interests of peace, prosperity and brotherhood in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
