| Horticulture primary profession of farmers in Kargil: Raza | | 
Kargil, April 10, (Scoop News)- The Department of Horticulture Kargil started the distribution of more than, 28,000 Fruit Saplings/Seedlings and 40,000 Strawberry Runners from its Nurseries located at different places of the District.
The Chief Horticulture Officer Kargil Ali Raza inaugurated the programme at Central Nursery Kurbathang Kargil during which Hundreds of Progressive farmers from all over Kargil were present to collect the plants.
While interacting with the farmers, Ali Raza told that the Department is distributing the Fruit Saplings free of Cost and the motive of such distribution is to increase the production of fruit from Kargil. He told that 18,700 Saplings of High Density Apple, Pear and Plum procured from Kashmir will be distributed along with 40,000 strawberry runners for green house cultivation.
He added that 10,000 apricot seedlings are available at nurseries of the Department at various locations and will be sold at Rs 10 per seedlings.
He advised the farmers to motivate the youths to opt Agriculture as profession as in the coming age of competitive era every person cannot be employed with Government job.
Later on spot training was imparted to the progressive farmers for effective and scientific way of Plantation of Fruit Saplings and in other related field.
