3 persons, 517 livestock rescued in Kulgam
DC personally monitors rescue operations
Kulgam/Srinagar, May 27 (Scoop News) –During the intervening night of 26/27th May, 2013, three persons with their 520 livestock (sheep & goats) got trapped into an overflowing stream (Nallah Veshew) due to torrential rains, between Ponipora & Arigatnoo villages.
The Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Jehangir Mir was personally overseeing the rescue operations which were concluded at 12 P.M. (midnight) after rafting boats arranged from Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering Pahalgam were pressed into service and the persons were safely rescued.
In the wee hours of 27th May, 517 Live stock also got rescued and necessary vaccination were provided to the Live Stock through Sheep Husbandry Department.
Besides Animal & Sheep Husbandry Department, Police, CRPF, Army and personnel of Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering Pahalgam put in their joint efforts in the rescue operation. The locals of the area appreciated the efforts of the District Administration and were highly praiseful.
