| Councilors of Changthang region submitted a memorandum to Governor | | Leh, May 24 (Scoop News) -A high delegation of the Councilors of Changthang region comprised of Councilor Durbuk Dorjey Namgyal, Councilor Kyungyam Dorjey Motup, Councilor Nyoma Thupstan Wangchuk and Councilor Chushul Namgyal Phuntsog called upon the Governor J&K, NN Vohra at Leh yesterday and submitted a memorandum seeking Governors intervention in resolving some important issues and demands concerning Changthang region. These demands included opening of tourist route from Chushul to Taga via Tsagala, Tsaga to Kuyul via Dungti, Kuyul to Anlay via Putitla. The Councilors apprised the Guv about great potential of tourism promotion in these areas as well as good scope of economic benefit for the people of Changthang . The delegation made the Guv apprise about the vast and strategic location of Changthang and need of telecommunication facilities in Changthang region and sought Guv’s intervention in early installation of mobile towers in areas like Kuyul, Tsaga, Mudh, Rongo, Demjok, Korzok, Nee, Kesar, Skidmang, Himya, Kungyam, Chushul, Maan, Spangmik, Satoo-Kargyam, Shachukul and Puga valley. Mentioning the backwardness of Changthang region, the memorandum demanded for Guv’s support in enhancing BADP fund in order to carry out developmental works in the area smoothly. To reconcile the land settlement cases and revenue works in Changthang region which share border with China, the Councilors of Changthang strongly urged for grant of Tehsil status of Changthang sub-division. In view of high need of improvement of road communication in whole Changthang region, the memorandum proposed for immediate consideration of upgradation of Lukung to Khakted road, Dungti to Demjok road, Chushul to Tsaga road and link road to Tiri village under PMGSY to ensure speedy works. The memorandum also demanded special funds for construction of hostel building for the students of Changthang region who are currently receiving education at Degree College, Leh. On the pattern of trade route with Pakistan like Teetwal, Salamabad, Chakan-da-Bagh, Poonch and Baramulla, the Changthang delegation also demanded for opening such trade route from Chumor, Demjok and Chushul across India-China border. The delegation also demanded for laying power transmission line under RGGY to connect Changthang region with main power grid of Leh. The memorandums also took the issue of having tremendous pressure on pasture in Changthang as well as wiping out of cropping fields in the wake of increasing population of wild animals specially the Kyiang (wild ass) The delegation also demanded for shifting of ITBP force from villages and deploys them at zero border. ... |
