| Cultural Academy, BSS organise mesmerising Classical Musical Evening | |  Jammu, November 12 (Scoop News)- The K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu was enthralled by a grand festival of Indian classical music organised jointly by the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and Bharatiya Sangeet Sansthan which is a reputed cultural society devoted to the promotion, preservation, and upliftment of Indian Classical and Folk Music.
Nationally acclaimed artists from different parts of the country who have excelled in classic music, took the packed enthusiastic classic music lovers in K L Saigal Hall to a rare musical journey through India's classical music heritage.
Justice Sindhu Sharma, Judge of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was the Chief Guest. A galaxy of former bureaucrats, members of Jammu’s civil society and artists were present to cheer the artists who performed admirably at “An Evening of Classical Music”. The event offered a soulful celebration of India’s rich classical music traditions.
The rare event of classical music began with a Vocal Recital by Karanjeet Singh Sasan, accompanied by Rajveer Singh on Tabla and Gouri Shankar on harmonium. He presented Raag Multani and concluded his recital with an Abhang. This was followed by an enthralling Pakhavaj Solo by Chitrangana Agle Reshwal from Delhi. She was supported by Gouri Shankar on harmonium, presenting Chautal. A mesmerizing Thumri–Dadra recital by Kakali Mukherjee from Kolkata was the grand finale of an over two hours musical event. She was ably accompanied by Sanjit Mukherjee on tabla. Her expressive renditions left the audience spellbound. Overall, the event was a captivating recital showcasing India's rich classical music.
The artists were welcomed by bouquets by V. K. Sambyal, former Station Director AIR and President of Bharatiya Sangeet Sansthan.
Justice Sindhu Sharma felicitated the artists with shawls. Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included former Chief secretary J&K, B. R. Sharma, Ashok Angurana, former Secretary to Govt of India and a reputed Dogri writer, K. B. Jandial, former member of the Public Service Commission, and S. S. Bijral, former IGP.
The Classic Musical Evening began with the lighting of the lamp and guru vandana by the students of Bharatiya Sangeet Sansthan. Additional Secretary of JKAACL, Sonali Gupta warmly welcomed the artist and the audience.
Rajkumar Behrupia who professionally conducted the event, presented a formal Vote of Thanks.
The event was appreciated for its high artistic standard and for showcasing the depth and diversity of Indian classical music. It also reinforced the shared commitment of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Bharatiya Sangeet Sansthan towards promoting and preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.
