| ICDS,-Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust launches a Morning Nutrition Programme | | Leh, November 11 (Scoop News)-The Department of Social and Tribal Welfare, Leh, under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), in collaboration with the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, Karnataka, launched a Morning Nutrition Programme for 1,000 Anganwadi children of Leh.
The programme was launched in the presence of Director, Social and Tribal Welfare Department, Ladakh, Ms. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS); District Programme Officer, ICDS Leh, A.G. Zargar (JKAS); National Manager, Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, Mr. Allath Santosh; and Regional Manager, Mr. Chandan Kumar. Speaking on the occasion, Director Kunzes Angmo appreciated the Trust’s initiative and stated that such collaborations play a crucial role in improving the nutritional status of children in remote regions like Ladakh.
DPO, ICDS Leh, A.G. Zargar (JKAS) assured full cooperation and regular monitoring to ensure the effective implementation of the programme. He expressed gratitude to the Trust for extending its support to Anganwadi children and emphasized that the initiative will significantly contribute to their overall health and well-being.
As part of the launch, the Director and the DPO distributed chocolate and milk powder drinks to the Anganwadi children, marking the beginning of the Morning Nutrition Programme.
Speaking at the event, National Manager, Mr. Allath Santosh, shared that the Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust, a Karnataka-based NGO established in 2015, has been working to eliminate child hunger and ensure holistic nutrition for school-going children. The Trust currently operates in 25 States and 4 Union Territories, including Ladakh, and plans to cover 118 Anganwadi Centres, benefiting around 1,000 children in the initial phase. The event was attended by CDPO Leh, supervisors, Anganwadi workers, and children.
