J&K Students Association demands supplementary examination in 5th semester for Cluster University students
Says, Further delay will affect future studies and career prospects of students


Jammu/Srinagar,January 29 (Scoop News)-J&K students Association here on today requested the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Cluster University Srinagar Vice chancellor Professor Qayyum Husain to conduct the pending supplementary examination of 5th semester Batch 2019) for the students who have a backlog and those who couldn’t appear in the exam due to COVID-19 infection. The exam was held in February last year.

In the Statement, the Association’s Vice President Munawar Mehraj, requested authorities to consider this request on humanitarian grounds, keeping in view the precious career of students and the hardships and difficulties students had to undergo because of outbreak of lethal covid-19 pandemic.

The supplementary examination was promised by the University on request of students but it wasn’t conducted. The delay in the fifth semester supplementary examination can result with academic loss of students who aspire to apply for masters and other academic courses. He said, ‘We request the honorable Lieutenant Governor and the Vice Chancellor, Cluster University to conduct a supplementary examination of 5th semester (Batch 2019) for students of cluster University who missed it last year.

He also added that Since the varsity follows a semester scheme, where the exam is conducted once in six months. However varsity should consider request of conducting examination of 5th semester supplementary exam like previous year to save the precious time of students otherwise they will lose their precious academic year and further delay their future studies and career prospects. He urged the authorities to conduct their examination on Fast-track basis so that they can continue their education.

There have been reports of mental anguish and agony among students that has caused distress and uncertainty. A student (wished not to be named) spoke to the association and said, 'Despite promises of supplementary exams by the Vice Chancellor of Cluster university Professor Qayyum Husain and the Registrar of the university, Professor Khurshid Ahmad Mir, the exams were not conducted. Students are at crossroads. Mehraj urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the university authorities to conduct our exams as soon as possible.’
