Vomedh observes martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur ji


Jammu,November 28 (Scoop News)-Glowing tributes were paid to Guru Sh Teg Bahadur Ji on his martyrdom day at a function organised by Vomedh here today.
The programme was organised by Vomedh group, to commemorate the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur who sacrificed his life to save the religion particularly Kashmiri Pandit community when he refused to convert to Islam on the orders of tyrant Aurangzeb.
S. Balwinder Singh, RTI Activist and Vice President District Gurudwara Prabandak Committee (DGPC) was the chief guest while Dr Sudhir Mahajan, renowned Theatre Activist was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Paying glowing tributes to Guru teg Bahadur S Balwinder Singh said that Guru Teg Bahadur was a valiant Sikh Guru who was publicly Executed by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in Delhi for refusing to convert to Islam. The sites of his death and cremation were converted into sacred sites and are now known as Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi. Apart from the Contributions made by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to uphold the Pride of the Indian community before the Mughals, he also made his Contribution to the Holy Guru Granth Sahib, he said.
S Balwinder added that Guru Teg Bahadur came to be known by the name Tegh Bahadur (Mighty of the Sword), given to him by Guru Hargobind after he had shown his valour in a battle against the Mughals for saving his religion and fighting for Kashmiri pandits rights.
He said that when the Mughals began torturing Kashmiri Pandits, they sought Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh’s help. He asked them to tell Aurangzeb if he could convert Guru Teg bahadur, everyone will follow suit adding Guru Teg Bahadur came to Delhi and suffered immeasurable torture and even witnessed the deaths of his three followers but he did not deter.
Dr Sudhir Mahajan wile paying tributes said that Guru Teg Bahadur was one of the greatest valiant Gurus of Sikh community and he paved the way for saving the dharma in India adding his sacrifices and teachings were guiding lights for the future generation of how to overcome fear and stick to one’s beliefs and faith.
Mahajan said that Guru Tegh Bahadur sacrificed himself to protect the dharma.
He came to Delhi and sacrificed himself at Chandni Chowk for the cause of religion and Kashmiri Pandits due which he is known as Hind ki Chadar till date.
The paper reading session also paid rich tributes to the Guru with an excellent presentation by Pran Pandit and Vijay Wali.
A Kavi Goshthi was also organised on the occasion participated by Jang S Verman, Kusum Dhar, Dr Ramesh Nirash, Bindiya Raina Tikoo, Ashok Gowhar, AK Naz and Dilbar Mohan.
Rohit Bhat, Director Vomedh while presenting welcome address said that it was the endeavour of Vomedh to remember such great icons of India who sacrificed their all for the betterment of the nation and the community.
Many dignitaries, prominent citizens from Kashmiri Pandit community and Sikh community besides elite scholars of RHMP School, Barnai were present during the occasion.
The vote of thanks was presented by Bharati Kaul while Bindiya Raina Tikoo hosted the programme.
