Jammu,November 27 (Scoop News)-Rich tributes were paid to veteran Leader and former Finance Minister, former MP Shri G L Dogra on his 35th death anniversary today.
A large number of prominent Congress leaders attended the function at PCC Hq here today , which was presided over by Shri Yogesh Sawhney Former Minister and Incharge Distric President Jammu urban and attended bby senior Leaders hri Ravinder sharma, Ex-MLC, Sdr Gurdarshan SinghCh Dwarka Chief Whip Corporators, Bhanu Mahajan corporatorThomas Khokhar,Sanjeev Pandey,Kapil Singh, Rashpal Bhardwaj corporatorJanak Raj Mehra,Ram Prakash Mangotra,Vijay singh chib,Jugal kishore, Sat pal spolia, Sdr Balvinder Singh Rinku, Naheshwar Naryan, Gurdeep Singh,Jasbir Singh and others
Floral tributes were paid to the veteran Congress Leader and his long services to the people were recalled during his more then fifty years long public life.
The speakers described him as role model for all especially those in public life ,who was known for his honesty, simplicity and probity in public life and remained loyal to his ideology and congress party through out his life.
Shri Yogesh Sawhney said Dogra ji was very close to Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Smt Indira Gandhi and Shri Rajiv Gandhi and other stalwarts of congress during his life time. He had an unflinching faith in the ideology of congress while maintaining cordial relationship with leaders of other parties.
Shri Dogra was Finance Minister for around 27 years along with other important portfolios during the tenure of four prime ministers and later chief miniters right from 1948 till 1980s except for a short period of four years. He represented both Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province.
Shri Ravinder Sharma said that Dogra sahib had extra ordinary qualities of leadership.He was elected member of contituent assembly was Chairman of the drafting committee of the separate J &K Constitution.He was equally popular amongst people of all regions, religious and castes because of his secular credentials and pro poor approach. He was really a people s' man and remembered by one and all.
Several speakers paid rich tributes to Dogra ji and recalled his great contributions for the state especially Jammu region .
Earlier several senior Congress Leaders and congress Corporators attended the function at G L Dogra Chowk near Jammu University in which LG Manoj Sinha, Members of Dogra family and leaders of different parties attended.
Prominent Congress leaders who attended include Ex MLC Ravinder Sharma, Gurdarshan Singh, Dwarka chaudhary, Bhanu Mahajan, Sanjeev Pandey, Thomas Khokhar, Kapil Singh, Rashpal Bhardwaj, Sat Pal SpoliSpoliaa, Jugal Sharma,, Janak Mehra and others. They paid rich tributes to Dogra sahib.
