Jammu,November 23(Scoop News)-: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President National Conference has castigated the Bharatiya Janata Party for not holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir fearing its worst defeat as a result of the despair and anguish among the people due to the anti people policies being pursued by the BJP Govt at the Centre.

Interacting, with senior colleagues of the party in Sher I Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu regarding politicial senierio Mr Gupta, asserted that Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are utterly disappointed, confused and frustrated due to the losing ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. They know fully that after befooling the people by making promises never to be fulfilled they have totally lost the ground at the grass roots level across the J&K Union Territory, he asserted.

Rattan Lal Gupta said that the apprehensions of BJP leaders of receiving a big jolt in the impending elections are well founded as the people are least satisfied with the BJP’s policies and much anguish is brewing up in them against the saffron party. However, it does not give any right to the government to stall the democratic process of electing the representatives to the legislature by the people on one pretext or the other, the senior NC leader lamented.

Holding the BJP and its Govt at the Centre and UT responsible for diminishing the actual sole of democracy in J&K, for not giving the fundamental rights of Vote to the people. Rattan Lal Gupta said that BJP is a big blot on democracy by shelving the elections it is denying right to franchise to the people to elect a representative government in J&K. It is an irony of this sensitive region of the world’s largest democracy that since 2018 no Assembly elections have been conducted in J&K till date.

Rattan Lal Gupta lamented that in absence of a representative government the people of Jammu and Kashmir continue to decry for basic amenities and their sufferings getting multiplied with each passing day. He demanded that the Assembly elections should be announced soon but only after announcing the restoration of statehood to this territory. He claimed that restoration of statehood and democracy alone will help in improving the deteriorating security situation and overall unrest and political uncertainty in this Union Territory.

Meanwhile, the senior NC leader also criticized the launching of so called ‘Rozgar Mela’ by the Central Govt claiming that J&K did not get its due share in the Mela during its first two parts. He asserted that even 10 per cent jobs have not been given to the J&K youth in the past two Rozgar Melas. He said even the Prime Minister had promised with the youth of the country for creating two crore jobs every year but unfortunately it seem to be a hoax.
