Vice Chairman DDC Kathua kick starts work on JJM scheme at Mirpur Ram Panchayat
Kathua, October 02 (Scoop News)-Vice Chairman, DDC Kahua, Raghunandan Singh, along with BDC Chairperson Nagri Khajan Chand and DDC, Nagri Sandeep Majotra on Sunday kick started Jal Jeevan Mission water supply scheme here at Village Mirpur Ram.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chairman DDC said the Jal Jeewan Mission envisages an ambitious target of providing tap water connection to each and every household. “This scheme once completed is going to give a sigh of relief to the areas facing acute water shortage due to multiple reasons,” he added. He said the initiative of Jal Jewan Mission was launched with the tagline 'Har Ghar Nal Har Ghar Jal' which emphasised on connecting every household with tap water across India including Jammu and Kashmir. He said in Kathua Rs 1400 Cr has been allocated to cover the entire district including Kandi, Hilly and isolated habitations. He appealed to the PRI members and people to work in tandem for timely completion of this project so that the majority of the schemes shall be completed within the stipulated time frame.
DDC Nagri Sandeep Majotra expressed happiness that the Nagri Block became the first block where Borewell work under JJM was started. He informed the people that the Mirpur Ram Panchayat will get five such Borewells at an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore under JJM scheme which will be a great relief to the locals.
XEN PHE Vikram Dogra said JJM works in the district will get momentum in coming days as the department, PRIs and executing agencies are working with synergy to complete the projects in given timelines.
