Situation on ground contrary to BJP’s peace, development claims: Rattan Lal
Normalcy in rhetoric only, people unsafe, crime rate on rise

Jammu, August 17 (Scoop News)-Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President National Conference on Wednesday said that the situation on ground zero in J&K is contrary to the claims of BJP leadership over colossal development and lasting peace.
The senior NC leader was addressing a day-long party convention as Chief Guest here at Bishnah.
At the outset of the convention, Rattan Lal Gupta condemned the targeted killing of a Kashmiri Pandit in Shopian attack in which terrorist shot at two siblings in a local orchard and fled from the scene. He castigated the government for remaining busy in rhetoric rather than doing work on ground. He said that people are feeling unsafe under the present regime in the Valley. Because the government is unmoved and has failed to provide adequate security cover that the government itself has confirmed that the crime rate has also gone up manifold times and the law and order is also dwindling in J&K
Talking about the NC’s rule in the erstwhile State of J&K, Rattan Lal Gupta said that NC had always worked for the betterment and empowerment of women and provision of reservation to women in Panchayat elections was the testimony to this fact. National Conference has always remained people friendly, he added.
Saying that actions should speak louder than words, he demanded that the incumbent government should implement 33 per cent reservation to women in Parliament. He said that the BJP government has also ditched the border dwellers in J&K as contrary to the commitment no recruitment has been initiated in the border belts which is a breach of promise. He demanded that the Government should fill all vacant posts on a fast track basis.
Rattan Lal Gupta also slammed the government for leaving the farming community to lurch for compensation as floods ravaged their crops and even wreaked havoc in the residential areas. He said that for the first time in the history of J&K, any government has shown such an apathetic attitude towards the flood-hit population. He said that it is the duty of the Welfare State to provide adequate compensation to the hapless community to overcome losses incurred by the vagaries of the weather.
Addressing the convention, Bimla Luthra NC State Vice President Women Wing said that the present government is indifferent towards the plights of the people as there is no mechanism established through which the people can tell their sordid tales to the administration. Particularly women folk is the worst suffers, she added.
Mrs Laxmi Dutta Senior leader said that during NC’s regime the doors of the entire leadership of the party used to remain open for the people as listening to people grievances was considered as top priority and resolving the issues was always on top of the agenda of NC governments in the past.
The function was organized by Mrs Bimla Luthra State Vice President Women Wing.
Those who were present in the meeting included: Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary Jammu, Abdul Gani Teli P.P OBC Cell, Nar Singh P.P Labour Wing, Naresh Bittu District President Jammu Rural A, Daljeet Sharma, Thoru Ram Mandi, Rakesh Singh Raka, Tarsem Khullar, Surjeet Singh Sasan, Sham Lal, Dev Raj, Jatinder Kumar, Jagga Singh, Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Capt Rachpal Singh, Savita, Bharti, Jyoti, Rita, Shakutla, Neetu and others.
